How to customise your gran board app
I often see people asking in the Granboard forums about how to customise their backgrounds and change their in-game sounds. This is a feature that has been around in Gran Board for quite some time however many people don’t know (or couldn’t be bothered) finding out how to do it.
From the main menu tap on “My Page”. This will take your to your Gran Card page with your game id: and a quick snapshot of your 01 and Cricket stats and overall rating. Here you can change your in-game name, your background, and your profile picture. Click on the little spanner on the right that says “customise”.
BACKGROUND, AWARD, and THEME
On this screen you can see three sections in the header – BACKGROUND, AWARD, and THEME.
BACKGROUND is pre-selected and you can see at the bottom of the screen it shows the current backgrounds for each of the standard games. Clicking on a game brings up a list of available backgrounds to customise to your style or the option to import your own image (as I have done with my Count Up game).
It’s worth experimenting with a few of these as some make it near impossible to read the screen while playing! If you choose the option “AllSet” and select a background it will use that background for all games.
On the AWARD tab, you can customise the celebration movie that is played on your screen/device when you achieve a particular in-game award. Again, there is quite a few to choose from but there is no option to import your own video here.
Finally, there is the THEME tab. Here you can customise the in-game sounds you hear when you hit the segments double/triple/bull/double-bull in any game. Some of these are a paid option that costs 12 coins. In Australian currency, it costs $1.50 for 10 coins. Coins can be used to buy new sounds as well as add extra games to the practice and party menu (more on that in another article).
There are 7 available free sounds that you can change your board to. In the pictures below I have selected the Karate sounds so it sounds like Bruce Lee is throwing down with Chuck Norris when I’m playing my board. If you want to go back to the default sound setting, which you most likely will do once you get bored of the novelty, just click on the “revert” button on the top right and it will go back to its default setting.
Note that all backgrounds/sounds/themes are all device specific which means that if you log in to a different device to access your account all your saved backgrounds/sounds won’t be there.
So that’s all there is to it. It is more for aesthetic value than anything else or, in my case, shameless promotion for No Bull Darts on my Count Up background. You could choose family photos or photos of you and your mates, set your backgrounds to match your man-cave theme, or anything else that tickles your fancy.
